Leadership,

It is unacceptable for the 4th Quarter Inflight Quarterly training to include the AAdvantage Cash qualification module. The AAdvantage Cash program has always been voluntary for Flight Attendants to participate in, by requiring every Flight Attendant to complete the training and increasing the expectation to answer questions about the program on the aircraft it becomes a required component of our job. Our Inflight Training modules should remain consistent with the scope of the Flight Attendant job duties.

Our Scope clause is clear, CBA 1.B.3 states clearly that "A Flight Attendant shall provide beverage and meal service as set forth in the Flight Attendant Manual and revisions thereto.  Such service shall be rendered only in the cabin of the aircraft." Our Emergency procedures are mandated by Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs). Nowhere in Federal Regulation or in the Scope defined in our CBA are Flight Attendants required to push credit card sales on behalf of the company.

Our Base Leadership has filed a Notice of Dispute initiating the formal grievance process over this issue. I am writing you to demand that you meet with them regarding this grievance and remove the module requiring duties outside of our Scope.

Sincerely,
